九江职业技术学院是经教育部批准成立的全日制普通高等学校，创办于1960年，前身为九江船舶工业学校，先后隶属第一、第三、第六机械工业部、中国船舶工业总公司，是江西省政府主办、省教育厅直属高职院校，全国首批举办高职教育的10所学校之一，是江西唯一一所国家示范性职业院校、“中国特色高水平高职学校”立项建设单位。
       Jiujiang Vocational and Technical College (JVTC), which was founded in 1960 with a name of Jiujiang Shipbuilding Polytechnic School, is a full-time public college approved by China's Ministry of Education. The college has been affiliated to the First, Third and Sixth Ministry of Machinery Industry and China National Shipbuilding Corporation. It was one of the first 10 higher vocational colleges in China sponsored by Jiangxi provincial government and directly under the governing of Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education. The college is the only National Model Higher Vocational College in Jiangxi province and the construction unit of "High-quality Higher Vocational College with Chinese Characteristics".
       学校建有濂溪、十里两个校区，占地面积1400余亩，设有8个二级学院、66个专业，全日制在校生2.2万余人，教学仪器设备总值逾2.3亿元，总资产逾15亿元，具有国家级教学团队2个、国家级职业教育教师教学创新团队1个、国家双师培训基地2个，获国家级教学成果二等奖4项，主持国家级教学资源库建设1个，建有国家示范专业3个、国家骨干专业7个。入选了国家优质专科高等职业院校、全国职业教育先进单位、教育部第一批教育信息化试点优秀单位、全国毕业生就业典型经验高校、全国高职院校教学资源50强、全国职业院校实习管理50强、全国职业院校教学管理50强、全国高职院校育人成效50强、全国职业院校数字校园建设实验校、全国高职院校创新创业教育工作先进单位等。
       The college has two campuses, Lianxi and Shili, covering an area of more than 93 hectares. It has 8 secondary schools and 66 majors with more than 22,000 full-time students, a total value of 230 million Yuan in teaching instruments and equipment, and a total assets of nearly 1.5 billion Yuan. JVTC has 2 state-level teaching teams, 1 state-level vocational education teaching innovation team, and 2 national- Duple-quality Teacher training bases and it won 4 second prizes of national teaching achievement, presided over the construction of 1 Teaching Resource Database and has 5 national model majors, 7 national backbone majors. It has been listed as National Model Higher Vocational Colleges, National High-quality Higher Vocational College, the first batch of Excellent Informalization Pilot Unit by the Ministry of Education, National Graduate Employment Experienced College, National Vocational College Digital Campus Construction Experimental College, National Advanced Vocational College of Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education and has been ranked among top 50 National higher vocational colleges of teaching resources, top 50 National higher vocational colleges of internship management, top 50 National higher vocational colleges of teaching management, top 50 National higher vocational colleges for Talents Cultivation Achievement.
