
Under the organization and management of university authorities, international students can use their spare time to obtain remuneration by working through legal channels and spend it on practical activities for the improvement of their study and living conditions. In principle, any work-study program, either on or off campus, shall not exceed 8 hours per week and 40 hours per month. During the winter and summer vacations, in principle, it shall not exceed 16 hours per week and 80 hours per month.
For international students, the positions provided for work-study programs should primarily fall into the categories of teaching assistants, research assistants, administration assistants, and public services on campus. The positions should both meet the students’ needs and occupy only their spare time. The payment of on-campus programs is arranged by universities: Permanent posts are paid by month; while temporary posts are paid by hour. The hourly remuneration can be reasonably determined with reference to the minimum hourly wage standard stipulated by the local people's government where the university is located.
Work-study is paid according to the following standards: the remuneration for 40 working hours per month, in principle, shall not be lower than the minimum subsistence allowance for local residents and may fluctuate appropriately.
