Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine
广州中医药大学创办于1956年，是新中国首批建立的四所中医药高等学校之一，先后直属国家卫生部、国家中医药管理局领导，2000年转由广东省人民政府管理，现为广东省“211工程”重点建设高校和高水平大学重点学科建设单位，2017年入选首批国家一流学科建设高校。经过六十年的建设和发展，学校整体办学水平、医疗服务能力和国际影响力均位居全国中医药院校前列。
Founded in 1956, Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GZUCM) is one of the four oldest Chinese Medicine (CM/TCM) institutes of higher education since the establishment of People's Republic of China. As a TCM institute of higher learning previously under the direct leadership of Ministry of Health and State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SATCM), GZUCM has been handed over to the People's Government of Guangdong Province in 2000. It is now one of the Key Universities for “Project 211” of Guangdong Province, as well as one of the "Key Discipline Construction of High-level Universities" in Guangdong Province. It has been listed among the first batch of national first-class discipline construction colleges and universities in 2017. Over the past sixty years of sustained efforts and development, GZUCM has ranked among the best in the aspect of overall school-running level, medical service level and international influence among colleges and universities of CM/TCM nationally.
学校秉持岭南人特有的开放和务实精神，大力推进中医药高等教育的改革发展。学校现有二级学院16个，本科专业27个，横跨医学、理学、工学、管理学、经济学、文学、教育学7个学科门类。拥有硕士学位授权一级学科6个、硕士点47个，博士学位授权一级学科3个、博士点19个。全日制在校生17742人，其中本科生12551人，专科生832人，硕士研究生3450人，博士研究生700人。
GZUCM gives great impetus to the reform and development of higher education of TCM while adhering to the unique spirit of pragmatism and openness of Cantonese. With 16 secondary schools, GZUCM now offers 27 majors and specialties of undergraduate education in seven branches of learning such as medicine, engineering, science, management, economics, literature and education. It now confers masters' degrees in 47 subjects and doctoral degrees in 19 subjects, which include 9 subjects of first class. There are now almost 20,000 full-time students in GZUCM, including 12551 undergraduates, 832 junior college students, 3450 master degree candidates and 700 doctoral degree candidates.
学校拥有一级学科国家重点学科1个；拥有一级学科广东省重点学科3个，其中广东省攀峰重点学科1个，广东省优势重点学科2个；拥有国家中医药管理局中医药重点学科25个；中医学进入国家“一流学科”建设行列；是拥有一级学科国家重点学科的两所中医药高校之一，也是拥有一级学科国家重点学科的唯一一所省属高校。根据2012年教育部公布的学科评估结果，一级学科中医学全国排名第二、中药学全国排名第三（并列）、中西医结合全国排名第四。汤森路透2016年7月15日数据显示，学校临床医学学科已进入ESI全球前1%行列，表明学校在关键研究领域达到国际先进水平，具有广泛的学术影响。
At present, GZUCM has 1 national key discipline of first-level, 3 provincial key disciplines of first-level, of which 1 provincial key discipline for Peak-climbing, and 2 provincial preponderant disciplines. With 25 TCM key disciplines assessed by SATCM, the subject of Traditional Chinese Medicine in GZUCM is among national first-class disciplines. GZUCM is one of the only two TCM colleges and universities which own first-level national key discipline, and it is the only provincial university that owns this. According to the China Discipline Ranking (CDR) published by Ministry of Education of China in 2012, GZUCM ranked the second in Chinese medicine, tied for the third in Chinese pharmacy, and ranked the fourth in integrated Chinese and Western medicines in the first-level disciplines nationally. Data from Thomson Reuters (by 15th July, 2016) shows that the clinical medical discipline of GZUCM has entered the ESI top 1% globally, which indicate that GZUCM has reached the international advanced level in key research fields.
学校学位与研究生教育始于1978年，是全国首批获得博士、硕士学位授予权的高校之一，研究生招生规模长期居于全国中医药院校前列，培养质量和学位论文质量受到社会的高度评价，在2015年中国期刊网《中国博硕学位论文引证报告》中，学校研究生学位论文总被引用频次居全国医药卫生类院校首位。学校现有中医学、中药学、中西医结合3个博士后科研流动站，是全国唯一连续两届获得中医学全国优秀博士后科研流动站的高校。
The degree and postgraduate education of GZUCM started from 1978. It was among one of the first batch of universities that were authorized to confer Doctor and Master degree in China. The enrollment scale for postgraduate education ranks top among TCM colleges and universities nationally. The quality of graduates and their academic dissertations are highly recognized by the society. According to the Citation Report of Chinese Doctoral and Master's Degree Thesis released by China Journal Net in 2015, the total citing frequency of postgraduate thesis of GZUCM topped the list among all domestic TCM colleges and universities. At present, there are 3 centers for post-doctoral studies respectively are Traditional Chinese Medicine, Science of Chinese Pharmacology and Integrated Chinese and Western Medicine. GZUCM is the only university that wins National Outstanding Center for Post-doctoral Studies for the second consecutive year.
