History of HUFE
Started from Accounting Institute (Private ) in 1931
Developed into Hunan Housheng Accounting School (Public) in 1952
Reconstructed Hunan Financial School in 1979
Approved by the Ministry of Education of China, officially changing the name to Hunan University of Finance and Economics as an undergraduate institution in 2010
Became a first-tier university in 2020

Students: around 16,000
Faculty: 815, including 87 professors, 213 associate professors, 280 lectures with doctoral degrees and 161 with international education experience.
Area: 506.9 thousand ㎡, locating at the foot of Yuelu Mountain , with gracious Xihu Cultural Park in the east, and the spectacular Meixi Lake in the west.
Schools: 14, including School of Accounting, School of Finance and Economics, School of Economics, School of Business Administration, School of Information Technology and Management, School of Public Policy and Management, School of Foreign Languages, School of Engineering Management, School of Political Theories, School of Arts, School of Mathematics and Statistics, School of Sports, Housheng School of International Education and School of Continuing Education.
Programs: 38, including 2 national first-class undergraduate programs (International Economics and Trade, Financial Management), 13 provincial first-class undergraduate programs (Public Finance, Finance, Computer Science and Technology, Human Resource Management, Land Resource Management, Accounting, International Business, Taxation, Marketing, Electronic Information Technology, English, Administration Management, Real Estate Development and Management).
Facilities
HUFE owns well-grounded infrastructure. Modernized digital teaching platform and excellent practical teaching system are established. HUFE is a pilot institution of education informationization approved by Ministry of Education, with computer network service covering the whole campus. Smart campus project has been basically completed. Smart classrooms are constructed. Besides, the university library has a collection of more than 1,500,000 volumes paper books, 530,000 volumes e-books and 1,000 kinds of magazines.
International Education & International Exchange
HUFE has been working hard for promoting its international influence. It has built up cooperation with 41 higher education institutions and education agencies, including University of New South Wales, University of West Australia, University of Technology, Sydney in Australia; University of San Francisco, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in the USA; University of Roehampton in the UK; and Lincoln University in New Zealand. Moreover, HUFE set up an international “3+1” undergraduate program in Accounting with the University of Roehampton, UK. The program is approved by Ministry of Education and has a total enrollment of 576 students in five cohorts. HUFE also recruited international students for Chinese language programs and degree programs.
