Henan University of Science and Technology (HAUST), located in Luoyang known as the thousand-year ancient capital and the peony flower city as well as the subsidiary center of Henan Province, is a comprehensive university featured by engineering advantage and multi-discipline development. It was ranked 98th among Chinese universities and 3rd among Henan’s universities by Airuishen Alumni network in 2020.
It was founded in Beijing in 1952, moved to Luoyang in 1956 and then renamed as Luoyang Institute of Technology (LIT). In 2002, with the approval of China Ministry of Education, LIT amalgamated another two colleges to form Henan University of Science and Technology. Premier Li Keqiang, then Governor of Henan Province, pointed out at the Opening Ceremony that the establishment of HAUST was a crucial part of the strategy for invigorating Henan through science and education and extended great expectations to HAUST.
HAUST consists of 31 schools offering 25 doctorial programs, 156 postgraduate programs and 97 undergraduate programs in 11 disciplines. The eleven disciplines of the university cover science, engineering, agronomy, medicine, economics, management, literature, law, history, art and pedagogy. The library, with a construction area of 99,000 ㎡, possesses a book collection of 3.64 million volumes and 180,000 periodicals of different languages.
As a member of the first group of universities qualified by the Ministry of Education for international students enrollment, HAUST actively engages in international exchanges and cooperative education, and has developed academic exchange and research cooperation with over 200 foreign universities and scientific research institutions in USA, UK, Russia, Japan, Australia and 20 other countries and regions.
