Founded in 1958, Anhui University of Technology (AHUT) is a comprehensive university offering well-developed programs in science, humanities, economics, management, law and while laying emphasis on engineering programs. It is located in Ma’anshan, Anhui Province, a “National Garden City” with convenient transportation to Nanjing (18 mins) and Shanghai (120 mins) by high-speed trains. AHUT consists of 2 campuses, covering a total area of 1.7 million square meters (total area of dormitories accounts for 914.2 thousand square meters). It has teaching and scientific research equipment with a total value of 544 million RMB and its libraries have a collection of 2.01 million books and 135 databases. Currently, AHUT has 2,117 faculty members, including 228 professors and 496 associate professors. By the end of 2021, there are 24,144 full-time undergraduates, 4,055 full-time graduates and 375 international students from 34 countries studying in AHUT, the scale of degree international students ranks the 2nd among provincial universities. AHUT consists of 17 schools with 63 bachelor-degree programs, 19 master-degree programs of first-level disciplines, 15 professional master-degree categories covering 22 fields, 2 doctor-degree programs of first-level disciplines and 2 post-doctoral research centers. AHUT has 6 national-level first-class undergraduate courses, 35 national and provincial-level first-class undergraduate programs, 6 national-level characteristic programs, comprehensive reform pilot programs, and 47 provincial-level characteristic programs, comprehensive reform pilots, and revitalization plan programs. By now, 13 programs have passed the undergraduate professional evaluation organized by MOE and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, ranking first among provincial universities.

AHUT is among the 'First batch of National Model Universities of Deepening the Reform of Innovative Entrepreneurship', 'Top 50 Universities modelling in Innovative Entrepreneurship Practices', 'Member of Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program of Ministry of Education (MOE) of China' and 'Anhui High-level University with Local Characteristics'. Materials Science, Engineering and Chemistry have been ranked among ESI 1%. 10 scholars of AHUT have been featured among world’s Top 2% scientists list created by Stanford University. In the "2021 Shanghai Ranking's Academic Ranking of World Universities", AHUT was listed as one of the top 1000 for the first time. In the past three years, in the annual "Highly Cited Scientists" list released by Clarivate Analytics, 6 AHUT experts from 3 disciplines have been selected, ranking first among provincial universities. Since 2016, AHUT students have won 96 international awards, 1,304 national awards, and 3,165 provincial awards in various discipline competitions, including the first national special prize of the "Challenge Cup" scientific and technological competition in provincial universities, the first national "Winning Cup", the "four consecutive championships" of the Robot World Cup China, and the gold medal in the International Genetically Engineered Machine competition.

Up to now, AHUT has officially established cooperative relations with nearly 100 foreign universities, undertaken a number of international research cooperation projects, and has been approved to set up ISO-TC107/SC9PVD International Standards Sub-Committee. AHUT joined the "Belt and Road" University-Enterprise Alliance for Talent Training and obtained the qualification of the Chinese Proficiency Test Institution of the Sino-foreign Language Exchange Cooperation Center, and successfully passed the quality certification of international education by the Ministry of Education.
