About SNAI
Under the strong support of former Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji, the Shanghai National Accounting Institute (SNAI) was established in September 2000 as a public service institution affiliated to the Ministry of Finance of China (MOF). Under the leadership of the SNAI Party Committee, SNAI President is accountable for the operation of the institute and the finance minister of Ministry of Finance is assigned as the chairman of SNAI’s board of directors
In 2011, SNAI is approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council as the unit for granting Master's Degree in Professional Accounting and Auditing. In the same year, the EMBA program in cooperation with Arizona State University was ranked 20th globally by the Financial Times. In 2013, EMBA and EMPAcc programs obtained the accreditation from the Ministry of Education. In 2014, SNAI was approved by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council to offer another degree program-Master of Taxation. As a national-level continuing education base, SNAI also provides distance education for accounting practitioners at the grassroots level and managerial talents in western China.
Looking ahead, with an aim to build itself into an internationally recognized accounting institute and an open development strategy for mobilizing quality educational resources around the globe, SNAI will endeavor to become a cradle for bringing up financial and accounting leaders, an important think tank for financial and accounting policymaking and businesses’ financial operation, an important source for gathering and disseminating accounting information and a vital platform for international exchange in the fields of finance and accounting, and by doing so, to better serve the development of Chinese economy and society as well as the capacity building of developing countries in the fields of finance and economics.
About AFDI
The Asia-Pacific Finance and Development Institute (AFDI) which is co-located at SNAI, was initiated by the Chinese Central Government for capacity building under the APEC framework. Since the establishment in 2001, AFDI has conducted various capacity building trainings, seminars, forums and research on regional financial and development issues. Not only have these efforts facilitated knowledge and experience exchange, but also enhanced mutual understanding among the developing countries. In 2015, AFDI launched the Master of Professional Accounting Program, which has been approved as one of the “Master’s Program for Developing Countries” by the Ministry of Commerce. The Program aims to provide professional master degree education to the young and mid-aged finance officials in the world.
Environment and Facilities
With a humid subtropical monsoon climate, Shanghai has a very pleasant climate with four distinct seasons. Shanghai enjoys abundant sunshine and rainfall throughout the year. The spring and autumn in Shanghai are relatively short with longer summer and winter. More than 60% of the rainfall in the whole year concentrated in the flood season from May to September. The hottest seasons are from July to August with more than 10 days above 35 ℃ per year. The coldest seasons are from late December to the end of February.
SNAI campus covers an area of 34.67 hectares and a floor area of 87,000 square meters. Its geographical location also is favorable, being adjacent to Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and National Exhibition and Convention Center. The park-like campus is equipped with first-class teaching and learning facilities, as well as single room accommodations with 24-hour air conditioning, hot water and wide-band network for the international students during their schooling.
