Founded in 1956, Dalian Jiaotong University is an institution of higher education featured rail transit and interdisciplinary software talent training. The University is located at the southernmost tip of Liaodong Peninsula and in Dalian, a beautiful coastal city. It is a key university in Liaoning Province, with the right of conferring doctorate, master's degree and bachelor's degree, and its Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering are both first-class majors in Liaoning Province. The University has 938full-time teachers and 17,036 full-time students.
Running school openly, the University is entitled to recruit international students with Chinese government-funded scholarship, and it is also the “121 Project” Innovative Talent Training Base under the Sino-US Talent Training Program, with its cooperation reached more than 80 colleges, universities and scientific research institutions in Australia, the United States, Japan, Russia and other countries. In addition, it has witnessed Sino-Japan Friendship (Dalian) Talent Training Base and other three Sino-foreign Cooperative Education Programs set up on campus.
Since its establishment, the University has brought up more than 100,000 graduates, and most of them work in rail transit industry, with some already becoming the industrial leaders and technical experts. Dalian Jiaotong University is known in the industry as "Cradle of Engineers of Chinese Rail Transit Equipment Manufacturing". In this new era, the University, which centers on the Revitalization of Liaoning Old Industrial Bases, the Development Opportunities of Modern Rail Transit Equipment Manufacturing and the “Belt and Road” initiative, and also the “High-speed Rail Going Out” strategy, make great efforts in connotative development and upgrade its core competitiveness to become a high-level university featured on research and application.
