Three undergraduate programs were issued as the national first-class undergraduate specialty construction pilots, including Industrial Design, Bioengineering, and Product Design. Nine undergraduate programs were issued as the first-class undergraduate specialty construction pilots in Liaoning Province, including International Economy and Trade, Journalism, Mechanical Design and Manufacturing and Automation, Electronic and Information Engineering, Computer Science and Technology, Network Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Administration Management. In the comprehensive assessment of all the undergraduate programs throughout the Liaoning province, four programs ranked first, including Industrial Design, Network Engineering, Journalism, and Optoelectronic Information Science and Engineering, and six programs ranked second, including Electronic and Information Engineering, Communication Engineering, Administration Management, Japanese, Korean, and Product Design. 14 undergraduate programs were listed in the top 20% and nearly 80% were listed in the top 50%. Three programs were designated by Liaoning Province to be among the First 100 Undergraduate Specialties of Priority, including Industrial Design, Network Engineering and Japanese. DLMU has two master programs in first-class disciplines in ethnology and bioengineering, and a master program in electronic information.
DLMU has two campuses: the Development Zone campus and the Jinshitan campus, covering an area of approximately 1,100,000 square meters. DLMU has 20 faculties and research centers, including Economic Management School, Mechanical and Electronic Engineering School, Life Sciences School, Foreign Languages School, Computer Science and Engineering School, Design School, Civil Engineering School, Architecture School, Arts and Law School, Science School, International Business School, Information and Communication Engineering School, Environment and Bioresources School, Physics and Materials Engineering School, International Cultural Exchange Institute, etc. There are 54 undergraduate programs, classified into seven major disciplines of engineering, science, economics, business, literature, law, and art. DLMU enrolls students from 31 provinces and municipalities, as well as Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The students are from 56 ethnic groups, and more than 60 percent of them are minority students. It is staffed with over 1,200 faculty members, above 50 percent of whom have doctoral degrees, nearly 90 percent of whom have master’s degrees, and over 50 percent of whom are associate professors or professors. The undergraduates’ innovation education, bilingual teaching, internationalization of course teaching and other characteristics have been widely recognized by the society. Since its establishment, DLMU has brought up nearly 50,000 graduates,whose upon-graduation employment rate has remained above 90% for 20 years in a row.
DLMU has internationalized its higher education in recent years, making many outstanding achievements. We have established cooperative relations with over 100 universities, research institutes and enterprises from Japan, Korea, Kazakhstan, U.S.A., Canada, UK, Russia, etc. The international student education has been constantly improving. DLMU has attracted nearly 5000 students, including nearly 200 students with bachelor’s degrees, from 45 countries and regions for short-term or long-term study. We provide students with various forms of extracurricular activities as well as organize regular cultural study tour and language practice activities. Our students not only progress in their Chinese but also develop a better understanding of China’s history, cultural and current Chinese society.
