Shenzhen is a special economic zone, a national economic central city, an international city, a scientific and technological innovation center, a regional financial center and a hub of trade, commerce and logistics in China.
Originally known as Bao’an County of Guangzhou Prefecture, Shenzhen is located on the eastern bank of the Pearl River estuary in the southern part of Guangdong Province with local traditions of the Hakka culture and Lingnan culture. In 1980, it became the first special economic zone in China, serving as the window of China’s reform and opening-up and a newly-established city of immigrants. The city achieved the “speed of Shenzhen” and has been known as China’s Silicon Valley.

Chiwan Tianhou Temple, also known as the Tianhou Museum, was established in the Song Dynasty and undergone several renovations during Ming and Qing dynasties, gradually expanding in size. As an important stop along the Maritime Silk Road established in the Ming Dynasty, Chiwan Tianhou Temple played a significant role.
Dapeng Fortress
Dapeng Fortress is a military fortress that played a crucial role in the maritime defense of China during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It was responsible for ensuring the safety of today’s Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and successfully resisted and repelled invasions by Portuguese, Japanese pirates, and British colonizers for multiple times.
Nantou Ancient City
Nantou Ancient City has many cultural and historical landmarks and served as the administrative center, coastal defense fortress, maritime transportation hub, and trading center for the Lingnan coastal region throughout history. The Civic Center

He Xiangning Art Museum
He Xiangning Art Museum focuses on the collection, exhibition and research on paintings and calligraphy works of He Xiangning and organizes high-quality exhibitions themed on domestic and overseas fine arts and classical works. The museum carries forward Chinese cultural traditions through academic research on modern art and promotion of art education.
