The Forbidden City (The Palace Museum)

The Forbidden City had served as the political and ceremonial center of China for 500 years. After its completion in 1420, a total of 24 emperors, their royal families and servants lived in this palace. Although it is no longer a royal precinct, it is still one of the most important cultural sites and one of the most visited museums in China.

The Temple of Heaven

The Temple of Heaven is the largest royal religious complex in Beijing, renowned for its rigorous layout of symbols, peculiar structure and magnificent decoration. It is a representative Chinese ceremonial building, where emperors of Ming and Qing dynasties offered sacrifices to the heavenly gods and prayed for a bumper harvest.

Yuanmingyuan

Yuanmingyuan is widely recognized as the pinnacle of China’s royal gardens and palaces. Before its destruction, it is famous for extensive collection of gardens, architectural structure and numerous artistic and historical treasures.
